BLOG ARCHIVES - PART Four

The almost daily blog started 01 April 2006.

To Part Three (APRIL 2006)

To Part Five (JUNE 2006)

Last entry for May. Off on holiday for a few days. Had a wonderful time at Downsview with the "Chippies" and some good friends.

Here are a few images. Did finally meet "The Raven" the attractive Turbo Beaver belonging to Mike Bannock.

Just before I head off to Downsview (Toronto) tomorrow, I have added a second page of Banners from the Archives...many more to be added, but it all takes time. Glad I saved some of them. That's why you have to check the website a couple of days each week...not quite a daily newspaper.

Here is a non Beaver item, courtesy of Ken Swartz. Caught arriving at CYZD for the Symposium. I checked my records and I last saw this de Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk 10 Mk.22 (11) on 22 July 1960 at Denham Airfield near London. That's almost 46 years ago!!

Sixty years ago today the DHC-1 took to the air. "Happy birthday Chipmunk". Also, my Dad was born on this day in 1910, sadly he is no longer with us.

Bryan Fisher sent current snaps of N529T (1540) on her summer gear.

Good news! I have my first Artist's Proof Giclée print of "Denali Denizen" and I'm very happy with it. I will be making a Special Offer soon for any of you who would like a print. I'll be able to have "your" print made the exact size you want. The run will probably be limited to 100 copies. The largest size available will be 19" x 30".

See all my giclée prints on Derek Cooper's website

Well I just signed on the dotted line...the painting is going off to be shot Professionally at 20:00 tonight. ;-)

While I was plodding away on the painting in my studio, I had a visit from seven of the Snowbirds. They are here for a performance tomorrow, which happens to be my wife's birthday. I had hoped that she would have thought I'd arranged it just for her, but they just had to make a noise today!!

There is a new book on the Grumman G-73 Mallard that may be of interest to you, I know I am looking forward to it. With Fred Hotson as one of the authors, it's sure to be a good one!

A whole new month in front of us. I've a feeling it will maybe be limited to one-a-day. I just can't keep up the recent pace, I have other items on my agenda.

Here's the poster for the de Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk 60th Anniversary event at Downsview. Hope some of you can make it. Might even be a few DHC-2 there as well.
