52-6137 USAF #1299 L-20 No: 300. Command AF-3. Delivered 18-Aug-1953. Built as L-20A and re-designated U-6A in 1962.

Fate Unknown

USAF history.

52-6137 was made available on 25-Jun-1953 and accepted on 27-Jul-1953 by the 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas Unit), at Downsview, ON., after which it was delivered to the Air Material Command at Davis Monthan AFB., AZ., where it was placed with the 3040th Air Storage Squadron on 18-Aug-1953. It remained in store until it moved to the San Antonio Air Depot at McLellan AFB., on 30 Jun-1954 and is then recorded as moving to the San Francisco Point of Embarkation on 23-Sep-1954. This is rather strange as its destination for the Air Force Europe Command and previous shipments had been from Newark, NJ., to Erding in Germany.

Nevertheless it arrived with the 7485th Air Depot Wing at Erding Germany on 28-Sep-1954. It remained, again in store, until it flew to England where it arrived at Woodbridge on the Essex / Suffolk county border on 16-Feb-1955 and attached to the 20th Fighter Bomber Wing. The unit moved down the road, literally, to Wethersfield on 16-Feb-1955 and stayed until 16-Feb-1957. It now travelled to Northern Italy to the Macchi facility at Vergiate for maintenance, returning to Wethersfield on 10-Jun-1957. The 20th FB Wing was re designated as the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing on 01-Jul-1962 which moved to Woodbridge on 07-Oct-1962.

The last entry on the record card shows the aircraft being sent for reclamation on 27-May-1965 but there is no current indication of the reason.
