USAF History

52-6111 was made available on 10-Apr-1953 to the 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas Unit) unit of the USAF at Downsview, ON., and accepted on 17-Apr-1953. It was assigned to the Tactical Air Force on 24-Apr-1953 when it was attached to the 1st Liaison Squadron at George AFB., CA. It remained at George and was passed to the 479th Day Fighter Wing and it remained with this unit until 16-Sep-1960, although there were two maintenance trips to Downsview between 10-Feb and 11-Jun-1955 and then 15-May until 26-Jul-1957. Staying at George it passed to the 831st Air Base Group on 16-Sep-1960 until 28-Apr-1961.

It was then re assigned to the Logistics Command and moved to Norton AFB., CA., and the San Bernardino Air Materiel Area. At this stage the record card indicates the term “Display” but the meaning is unclear. The remaining USAF history is still to be researched.
