Accident: Winnipeg, MB. Lat 49.55N, Long 97.14W. 20-Oct-1981. The owner briefed the pilot on the technique of landing a float equipped a/c on grass and instructed him to land beside the runway in use. The pilot, who had not previously carried out this type of operation, landed in the grass beside the rwy in use in a 12 kt left crosswind. The aircraft touched down on the left float, skidded some distance and skipped. The right float then touched before the left, the aircraft skidded some 8 ft and went over onto its back.
