USAF History

52-6128 was made available on 29-May-1953 and accepted on 08-Jun-1953 by the 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas Unit), at Downsview, ON., after which it was delivered to the Tactical Air Command at Donaldson AFB., Greenville, SC., where it was assigned to the  to the 7th Liaison Squadron on 16-Jun-1953. It was deployed to Pope AFB., NC., between 25-Apr & 01-May-1954 and then moved back to Donaldson AFB. It moved across to the 4501st Headquarters Squadron until 01-Sep-1954 and then the 4501st Support Squadron until 04-Apr-1955 but with a short period at Downsview between 04-Mar-1955 and 26-Apr-1955.

It now spent more time at Pope AFB., NC., with the 464th Troop Carrier (Medium) Wing until 12-Mar-1957 after which it passed to the 479th Fighter, Day Wing at George AFB., CA., and on the 08-Oct-1957 it passed over to the 831st Air Base Wing for the matter of a few days until it went to the Mobile Air Material Area at Brookley AFB., AL., on 16-Oct-1957 until 25-Oct-1957.

This was in preparation of a Move to Iceland with the Iceland Defence Force where it was attached initially to the 1400th Field Maintenance Wing until 15-Feb-1959, then the 1400th CAM Squadron until 01-Jul-60 and the 1400th Consolidated Maintenance Squadron from 30-Jun-1961. It was at this stage that the facility fell under the control of the US Navy.

This aircraft’s further military history is still to be researched.
