USAF History

52-6097 was available on 17-Feb-1953 to the 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas Unit) unit of the USAF at Downsview, ON., and accepted on 02-Mar-1953. It was assigned to the Tactical Air Force on 11-Mar-1953 and delivered to the 2nd Liaison Squadron at Shaw AFB., and then on 04-Jun-1954 passed over to the 363rd Reconnaissance Training (RCT) Wing a component of the 363rd Tactical Reconnaissance Wing.

On the 05-Jan-1955 it was re assigned to the Air Material Command with the San Antonio Air Depot at Kelly AFB., (SA ARK) before passing back to the TAC at Shaw AFB., on 10-Aug-1956 with the 363rd RCT. This took it through to 27-Jun-1957 with a trip for maintenance back at Downsview between 26-Dec-1956 and 13-Feb-1957.

Returning to the TAC it now moved to Langley AFB., VA., where it was initially attached to the 4500th Support Squadron before passing to the 345th Tactical Bombardment Wing for short period between 18-Sep-1958 and 28-Oct-1958. It then returned to the 4500th Support Squadron until 21-Mar-1958 where it stayed until 21-Mar-1960 when the unit was re-designated as 4500th Air Base Wing.

It was next assigned to the Logistics command and attached to the Fairchild Aircraft Facility at Hagerstown, MD., on 24-Oct-1962. It was again re assigned, this time to the Strategic Air Command at Lincoln AFB., NE., on 16-Jan-1963, and attached to the 307th Bombardment Wing.

Stored at MASDC, Davis Monthan AFB., AZ., Arrival date probably in 1965 and departed on 13-Apr-1966 reportedly to US Army

It was again stored at MASDC, Davis Monthan AFB., AZ., between 22-Sep-1968 and 24-Aug-1970 as struck off charge as being passed to a school or museum. Its inventory codes for these periods are currently unknown.
