52-6084 USAF #1246. L-20 No: 247. Command AF-3. Delivered 05-Feb-1953. Built as L-20A and re-designated U-6A in 1962.

USAF History

52-6084 was made available to the USAF at 6600th Air Depot AMO (Air Material Overseas) unit, Downsview, ON., on 09-Jan-1953, and was accepted on 19-Jan-1953. It was assigned to the Air Defence Command and delivered to Stewart AFB., NY., on 05-Feb-1953 where it was initially attached to the 4700th Air Base Group which was responsible for the station support units, before it moved to the 9th Liaison Group on 15-April-1953. Then on to the 33rd Air Division at Tinker AFB., OK., part of the Eastern Air Defence Force. It remained here until 08-Mar-1954. Apart from a brief period at Scott AFB., and the 85th Fighter Interceptor Squadron between 08-Mar-1954 and 10-May-1954 the aircraft remained at Tinker until 20-Sep-1954.

Subsequent to this date the aircraft was assigned to the Training Command at Perrin AFB., TX., where it was attached to the 3555th Fighter Training Wing and the to the re designated 3555th Combat Crew Training Wing. The aircraft suffered category 3 damage (medium –serious) in a weather affected ground accident when parked at the air base on 20th Sep-1954 after which its reclamation was authorised.
